JAKARTA, Waspada.co.id – Firli Bahuri officially resigned as the Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK). Firli Bahuri resigned after being named a suspect in a case of alleged acceptance of gratuities and extortion against former Minister of Agriculture Syahrul Yasin Limpo.
Firli admitted to having sent a letter of resignation as the Chairman of the KPK to President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) through the State Secretary Minister (Mensesneg). He expressed his gratitude to President Jokowi and Vice President Ma’ruf Amin for trusting him to lead the KPK.
“Since December 20, 2019, until December 2023, I am ending my duties as the Chairman of the KPK, and I am resigning, and I also declare that I do not want to extend my term,” Firli said at the ACLC KPK Building, Jalan HR Rasuna Said, Kuningan, South Jakarta, on Thursday (21/12/2023).
“I express my gratitude to Mr. President, Mr. Jokowi, Vice President Mr. Ma’ruf Amin, and all the people of the nation wherever they are,” he continued.
Firli also explained his reasons for resigning. One of them is to maintain national stability. Moreover, he said, Indonesia will soon hold a five-yearly democratic party, the General Election (Pemilu).
“I reiterate, in order to maintain national stability, uphold the public interest, and the success of the 2024 presidential election and the democratic party in 2024, I declare my support for the success of the presidential election, so that it runs safely, orderly, and democratically,” said Firli.
“In the end, this will produce a fair national leader who can also guarantee our comfort, peace, and democratic climate. Therefore, once again I want to express my gratitude to all my colleagues, especially to the president who trusted me to lead the KPK for 4 years,” he concluded. (okezone.com)
