Isuzu unveiled a unique restomod project at the Bangkok International Motor Show, transforming a 1988 Isuzu TFR extended-cab pickup into a modern and stylish vehicle nicknamed “Dragon Max.” This restomod project retained the original body of the TFR pickup but equipped it with modern features such as LED headlights and taillights, new wheels and fenders, and a modern turbodiesel engine under the hood.

The new engine is a 2.2-liter four-cylinder diesel engine producing 217 horsepower and 406 pound-feet of torque, a significant upgrade from the original TFR’s 56 hp and 110 lb-ft of torque. The restomod also features upgraded suspension for a lower stance, smoke LED lights, 17-inch sporty wheels, a sleek spoiler, and a matte white paint job.

Inside, Isuzu updated the interior with Alcantara accents, carbon fiber trims, leather seats, a digital instrument cluster behind the steering wheel, and a vertical touchscreen display on the dashboard. The Dragon Max restomod has garnered attention at the motor show and will be on display until April 6.

While Isuzu may not offer this model for sale to customers, the Dragon Max concept showcases the brand’s creativity and innovation in updating a classic vehicle to meet modern standards.
