French President Emmanuel Macron recently paid a visit to Indonesia, underscoring the deep and meaningful partnership between the two nations. Macron emphasized that the friendship between Indonesia and France goes beyond mere symbolism, signifying a genuine and robust collaboration. During his trip, President Prabowo Subianto warmly received Macron at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta.
Macron expressed gratitude for the warm reception and highlighted the potential to strengthen the strategic partnership between France and Indonesia. He underscored the importance of cooperation across various sectors including economy, technology, security, and culture.
The diplomatic relations between Indonesia and France have been upheld for 75 years, with notable advancements achieved over the past decade. Macron acknowledged Indonesia’s role in upholding regional stability in the Indo-Pacific region and lauded the progress in bilateral defense cooperation, renewable energy, transportation, and energy transition initiatives.
Cultural exchange was also a focal point for Macron, with a cultural agreement set to be sealed at the Borobudur Temple complex as a symbolic gesture of the growing camaraderie between the two countries. Macron expressed appreciation to President Prabowo for the warm reception and expressed optimism for continued collaborative efforts during his two-day official visit to Indonesia.
