President Prabowo Subianto conveyed his confidence in Indonesia’s capability to achieve net-zero carbon emissions according to the schedule, positioning the nation as one of the pioneers in reaching this significant milestone. During a virtual conference on the launch of renewable energy projects and expansion of oil production in East Java, Prabowo underscored Indonesia’s efficiency in energy generation and reducing expensive logistics chains.
He stressed the essential role of energy independence in Indonesia’s aspiration for national sovereignty. The government’s plan involves initiating 55 new renewable energy initiatives, such as geothermal power plants, to offer clean, reliable, and efficient energy throughout the archipelago.
President Prabowo lauded the collaborative efforts of various ministries, regulatory bodies, and energy companies like Medco Energi and ExxonMobil for their contributions to Indonesia’s energy transition. While recognizing the country’s substantial oil and gas reserves, he highlighted the significance of renewable energy, particularly solar power, in ensuring energy self-sufficiency in communities across Indonesia.
Prabowo expressed his optimism for Indonesia’s future, citing solar energy as a promising solution for villages, districts, regencies, and remote islands. By harnessing renewable energy sources, Indonesia can pave the way for a brighter and more sustainable future.
