Bandung is where a light-hearted moment took place before the Operational and Military Honors Parade commenced at Suparlan Field in Pusdiklatpassus Batujajar, West Bandung, led by President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto. As the event started and Prabowo greeted state officials present, he paused when he saw Coordinating Minister for Community Empowerment, Muhaimin Iskandar, known as Cak Imin. Without any hesitation, Prabowo reached out to adjust the minister’s beret to make sure it was properly in place. This gesture was repeated when he encountered DPD Chairman Sultan Najamudin, where Prabowo adjusted his beret as well, drawing smiles from the surrounding officials.
In his speech, Prabowo explained why many state officials attending the ceremony were dressed in military attire. He emphasized that they wore these uniforms as a symbol of their readiness to stand alongside the people and defend the Indonesian nation. He reiterated the commitment to defensive defense and the determination of the Indonesian people to defend every inch of the nation’s territory, emphasizing the importance of unity and protection against colonization.
During the ceremony, Prabowo bestowed the honorary rank of four-star general, appointed General Tandyo Budi Revita as Deputy Commander of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), and awarded honorary ranks and medals to several recipients for their exceptional dedication and integrity. The event also marked the establishment of new TNI units, including new military commands, naval commands, air force commands, and special forces groups.
The parade involved a significant number of TNI personnel, supported by tactical vehicles and defense assets. Among those in attendance were Vice President Gibran Rakabuming, state institution leaders, cabinet ministers, TNI Commander General Agus Subiyanto, National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, and other dignitaries from the military and government agencies.
