President of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, visited Sentosa Funeral Home at RSPAD Gatot Subroto, Central Jakarta, on Wednesday to pay his respects to the late Kwik Kian Gie—a renowned economist and esteemed national statesman. Accompanied by the relatives and family of Kwik Kian Gie, President Prabowo made his way to the chamber where the deceased lay at peace. He paid homage to Kwik Kian Gie, a staunch advocate of Pancasila-based economics throughout his lifetime. Kwik, a significant economist and political figure, passed away at the age of 90 on July 28, 2025, at 10:00 PM (WIB). To Prabowo, Kwik was more than just an economist; he was a friend and mentor who offered valuable insights on the country’s development journey. “I visited to offer my condolences. Mr. Kwik was an influential figure who dedicatedly defended the Pancasila economy and upheld Article 33 of the Constitution,” stated President Prabowo. Recalling his personal bond with Kwik, Prabowo emphasized that their relationship was built on genuine advice and thoughtful conversations over the years. “He was exceptional. I had a strong connection with him. He guided me a lot,” Prabowo shared. Even in his final days, Kwik remained actively involved, sharing messages and recommendations with the President. “Just recently, he messaged me on WhatsApp with his suggestions. He never stopped communicating. Today, Indonesia mourns the loss of one of its finest,” Prabowo concluded.
