President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, made a surprising departure for Bandung, West Java, on Wednesday evening via the Whoosh high-speed train. Traveling alongside members of the public from Halim Station in Jakarta, the President arrived at the station around 7:45 p.m. local time. Donning a cream-colored outfit with a matching jacket and navy blue cap, Prabowo seamlessly blended in with fellow passengers as he scanned his boarding card at the ticket gate before heading up the escalator to the platform.
His unexpected presence quickly ignited excitement among commuters. With warm gestures and waves to onlookers, Prabowo engaged with the crowd as he made his way to the platform. Before boarding the train, he took time to pose for photos with the Whoosh crew. Promptly at 8:00 p.m., the high-speed train embarked towards Tegalluar Station in Bandung.
President Prabowo’s visit to Bandung is in preparation for the upcoming 2025 Indonesian Convention on Science, Technology, and Industry (KSTI). The convention, scheduled to take place at the Sasana Budaya Ganesa (Sabuga), Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB), from August 7 to 9, will feature him delivering the keynote address alongside Nobel Laureate Konstantin Novoselov and Minister of Education, Science, and Technology, Brian Yuliarto.
With the overarching theme of “Economic Growth and Equity Through Mastery of Science and Technology,” KSTI 2025 aims to establish itself as a pivotal strategic platform on both national and international levels.
