Deputy Minister for Population and Family Development (Wamendukbangga) Ratu Ayu Isyana Bagoes Oka emphasizes the importance of parents staying updated on their children’s interests and engaging in physical activities together to prevent them from becoming addicted to games and gadgets. Isyana shared this advice during The Role of Family Development discussion organized by the Presidential Communication Office (PCO) and Gempita in Jakarta. She highlighted the need for parents to constantly upgrade themselves and be knowledgeable about current online applications as children tend to learn faster nowadays. Children’s inclination towards seeking quick dopamine fixes through social media or online games can lead to addiction. Isyana suggested sports and outdoor activities as solutions, as they provide natural sources of dopamine and promote physical movement. Veronica Tan, Deputy Minister for Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection, introduced the Ruang Bersama Indonesia (RBI) program, aiming to create safe and inclusive spaces for women, children, and communities to empower, learn, play, and nurture creativity. Through RBI, Veronica hopes to offer children access to safe and engaging activities, encouraging them to participate in traditional games, sports, and creative outlets while steering clear of gadget addiction.
