President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, warmly received the visiting Peruvian President, Dina Ercilia Boluarte Zegarra, at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta on Monday. The state ceremony, graced by the presence of approximately 3,000 students from various educational institutions in the capital, showcased the strong bilateral ties between the two nations.

As President Boluarte’s motorcade, accompanied by motorcycle troops and mounted guards, arrived at the palace gates from the iconic National Monument (Monas), she was greeted by Prabowo himself. Both leaders then stood together on the ceremonial podium while the national anthems of Peru and Indonesia were played.

Following the anthems, a display of the honor guard and paying respects to their national flags, Prabowo and Boluarte introduced their respective official delegations. Prabowo’s delegation included key ministers such as the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Minister of State Secretariat, Minister of Investment and Downstreaming, Minister of Agriculture, Minister of Trade, and the Cabinet Secretary.

The bilateral meeting between the two heads of state aimed at further strengthening the existing ties between Indonesia and Peru. Notably, both countries are members of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC), a platform for regional cooperation and economic collaboration.

This meeting marked a reciprocal gesture from President Boluarte following Prabowo’s official visit to Peru the previous year, emphasizing the importance of ongoing diplomatic relations between Indonesia and Peru.
